Privacy Policy

Kaioke is an iPhone app made by mozaiku LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what Kaioke collects and why, who helps us run it, and the choices you have. Questions: support@kaioke.app.
The short version
- Your songs, their lyrics and your recordings are yours. We use them only to make your karaoke, and we never share them with other Kaioke users.
- To turn a song into karaoke, we send it to the services that separate the voice and time the lyrics. They do that job for us.
- Leaderboards show your name, picture and scores to other people.
- No ads. We don't sell your data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address and password (stored securely by our hosting provider; we never see your password), the name you choose, your picture or emoji, and your friend code.
The songs you add. The audio you pick (a file, a video in your Photos, or a song in your music library), and its title and artist (from your music library, from Shazam, or from the file's name). The audio goes to our servers to be processed. Afterwards we keep what Kaioke makes from it (the music, the backing vocals and the lead vocal as separate parts, the lyrics and the cover art) so the song plays on your devices, and we delete the file you added.
Your singing. Kaioke uses your microphone while you sing: to let you hear yourself, to score you, and to record when you choose to. Your recordings, and the camera's film when you sing on camera, stay on your iPhone unless you share them. Your scores (and how each take went: notes hit, streaks) go to our servers for your history and the leaderboards.
Friends. Who you've added as a friend, and anyone you've blocked.
Duets (when the feature is available): if you sing a duet, your recorded voice (without the music) is sent to the one friend you invited, and kept until either of you deletes the duet.
Usage. Events about how the app is used (for example, that a song was added or a take finished, and the app's version), linked to your account, so we can fix problems and improve Kaioke. We don't use third-party analytics or advertising tools.
Notifications. If you allow them, a device token, so we can tell you when a song is ready.
Purchases. If you buy credits or a plan, Apple handles the payment. We get a record of what you bought, never your payment details.
Who helps us
- Lovable Cloud (built on Supabase) hosts Kaioke's servers and stores your account and your songs.
- MVSep (mvsep.com) separates each song you add into the music, the backing vocals and the lead vocal.
- ElevenLabs (elevenlabs.io) listens to the separated lead vocal to time the lyrics to the singing, word by word, and to write the lyrics down when they can't be found.
- LRCLIB (lrclib.net) is searched by the song's title and artist for its lyrics. No audio is sent.
- Apple: Shazam identifies a song from a short sound signature made on your iPhone; Apple's iTunes Search finds cover art by title and artist; Apple delivers notifications and handles purchases.
Each gets only what it needs for its job and handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. They may process data outside your country, including in the United States.
What other people see
Your name, picture and best scores show on leaderboards: to your friends, and on a song's world leaderboard to everyone who sang the same recording. Your friend code lets people add you. Nothing else about you, and never your songs, their lyrics or your recordings.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. A song's files go when you delete the song. When you delete your account in the app (Profile › Delete account), we delete it and everything in it (your songs, scores, friends and duets) at once; when you ask us to by email instead, within 30 days. Copies in our backups are gone within a further 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Delete songs and recordings in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app at any time: Profile › Delete account. This doesn't cancel a plan bought through Apple; cancel that in your Apple account settings.
- Turn off notifications, the microphone or the camera in iOS Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account: email support@kaioke.app from the address you signed in with.
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, such as objecting to some uses of your data or complaining to a data protection authority. We process your data to provide Kaioke to you (our agreement with you), for our legitimate interests in keeping Kaioke working, secure and improving, and with your consent where we ask for it (such as notifications).
Children
Kaioke isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access controls: your songs can only be read by your account.

Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also tell you in the app.
